Vital Voices Launches Limited Podcast Series with Hillary Clinton, Debra Messing, Bozama Saint John and More
Listeners Have a Front-Row Seat on High-Level Discussions with Women Leaders Who are Solving the World’s Greatest Challenges
WASHINGTON, D.C. — July 26, 2023 — Vital Voices, the nonprofit NGO dedicated to women’s economic, social and political empowerment, proudly announces the launch of a limited audio series based on conversations recorded before a live audience at the 2nd Annual Vital Voices Festival. Part of Vital Voices’ Power to Empower podcast, this series presents high-level discussions with women leaders from around the globe who are providing solutions to the world’s greatest challenges.
Every other Wednesday, the podcast will launch a new series episode with host ALYSE NELSON, co-founder, president & CEO of Vital Voices. She will introduce the conversations set in the awe-inspiring Vital Voices Global Headquarters for Women’s Leadership — the world’s first embassy for women. Throughout the series, podcast guests will explore the undeniable importance of women’s leadership in igniting movements, disrupting the status quo and using art as a form of activism to change the world for the better.
“The change we want to see isn’t promised. Progress isn’t promised. We have to insist on it,” said Nelson on the podcast, which is aimed at motivating all who listen to be movement makers in their communities.
In the first episode, listeners will hear a powerful conversation between Vital Voices Co-founder Secretary HILLARY CLINTON and a panel of women leaders who have been a part of Vital Voices’ 25-year history of disrupting the status quo. Listeners will have a front-row seat as Northern Irish Peacebuilder Dr. BRONAGH HINDS, Gender Equality Activist OUMIE SISSOKHO of The Gambia, Human Rights Activist & Author RUCHIRA GUPTA of India, and Social Entrepreneur MARIA PACHECO of Guatemala talk about the audacious actions they took to advocate for women, peace, and gender equality in their communities and beyond.
“The work we do is lonely work,” said KAH WALLA, President of the Cameroon People’s Party and a Vital Voices Board Member, in the podcast series. “If we want social justice, if we want inclusion, we cannot count on the people who have built the current status quo to change it. We must embrace power.”
In episode two, listeners hear more from Walla, in addition to Senior Policy Advisor for Native Affairs and Domestic Policy Council at The White House ELIZABETH HIDALGO REESE, Founder of Femmes for Freedom SHIRIN MUSA, Environmental and Human Rights Activist HELENA GUALINGA, and Former Secretary of Public Ethics, Transparency and Anti-Corruption of Argentina LAURA ALONSO.
Upcoming episodes feature Chief of Staff to Sec. Clinton, HUMA ABEDIN, Actress & Activist DEBRA MESSING, President of The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts DEBORAH RUTTER, Marketing Executive BOZOMA SAINT JOHN, Moms Demand Action Founder SHANNON WATTS, Sesame Workshop President SHERRIE WESTIN, and many more.
