A Celebration: Vital Voices’ 2023 WomenLead India Fellows Graduate
On August 21 and 22, 50 women leaders from across India graduated from the inaugural WomenLead India Fellowship powered by the Reliance Foundation in Mumbai. The competitive program focuses on nurturing women leaders in the social sector to enhance their leadership abilities.
The fellows participated in a 10-month program consisting of virtual and in-person training, mentorship, and peer-to-peer learning. Fellows came from various industries to expand their leadership skills and impact, including rural transformation, education, sports for development, arts, culture, and heritage.
Dr. Renita Dubey, a WomenLead India fellow who is executive director of a non-profit said the program was transformational for her.
“This is because the sector in which I am working is renewable energy and women’s empowerment,” said Dr. Dubey. “The Energy sector has historically been a male-dominated field; on average, there are 76 percent fewer women than men, where in every sector, irrespective, witnesses gender biases and Inequality. I feel like a strong woman, a transformational leader who can move mountains, remove disparities and barriers, and lead by example with my actions, and positive behavior, and truly create a social impact,” she added.
Dr. Dubey is also the founder of an online group called WIRES (Women in Renewable Energy Sector) to promote the exchange of ideas, opinions, experiences, and energy job-related opportunities for Women Energy Professionals and Students.
She is one of 50 women who touted the transformational impact of the WomenLead India program on their leadership journey over the past year.
